Tenor

























The Tenor Thomas Heyer grew up in Waldniel on the Lower Rhine. He first studied school music and German language and literature in Cologne, followed by studies in singing and vocal pedagogy.

His singing activities have taken him across Europe, North America and Africa. Thomas Heyer has been involved in various radio and television productions (WDR, BR, 3-Sat, HR, Arte, BfBS etc.) which have also partially been recorded and produced as CDs.

In the concert scene, his repertoire includes all the great oratorios from Bach's evangelists, the entire classical and romantic sacred repertoire to Mahler's 8th Symphony “Das Lied der Erde” and the Verdi Requiem. On the opera stage he frequently been engaged as a Mozart tenor and in bel canto operas and has most recently been transitioning into the dramatic tenor repertoire. Song recitals are another focus of his artistic work.

Thomas Heyer has been teaching passionately for over 25 years. In addition to being a professor of singing and vocal studies at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, he is a sought after guest lecturer at various European universities and leads master classes throughout the world, most recently being invited to teach in Germany, Italy, Slovenia, France, Poland, New Zealand, America and Canada. His students are engaged in various international opera houses (Hamburg State Opera, Bavarian State Opera, Milan Scala, etc.), prize winners in international competitions and lecturers and professors at universities and colleges.
